About Us

OMA Foundation is a Christian, youth-centred organisation registered as a Community-Based Organisation located in Gulu District, northern Uganda. The organisation started fully operating in January 2019 and was founded by Dima Chris and Ongeyowun Gloria Dima.  Chris and Gloria formed the organisation to empower the vulnerable youths to become self-reliant and dependable members in their households, different communities and the country at large.

Although the Northern region is finally at peace after the war that had taken over 20 years, many youths were either left orphaned, hopeless and unskilled. In so doing, they have gambled their way through life. Those who have and can still access education are not certain of what lies ahead for them. The in-depth understanding of what is entailed and what they ought to do to be able to find and have meaning in life is still scanty: that is why we still have cases of dropouts for reasons such as going to get married, lack of interest in education, peer pressure, poor career guidance, substance abuse, domestic violence, the vicious cycle of poverty running in some of these households to mention but a few. It is devastating, more so, when a guardian or parent pushes their young daughter to get married at an unprepared age.  Often it’s the case because her marriage comes along with a bride price tagged on to it.

OUR VISION

OMA Foundation envisions a dependable youth filled community.

OMA FOUNDATION has plans to build a training centre on two acres of land. We intend to meet the educational needs of our beneficiaries (the vulnerable uneducated and school dropouts) in the community. We aim to foster eight different skill sets – tailoring, weaving and crocheting, carpentry, cookery and bakery, computer skills, hairdressing, metalwork and soap and candle making. Each class will have a maximum of 30 students. We live in a community trying to recover from a war that lasted over two decades. This war left many hopeless. The levels of poverty increased and unemployment is on the rise. This training program aims to increase knowledge, build confidence, create a sense of belonging, reliance, and encourage independence and hard work. Above all, the aim is to increase young people’s faith in God through his son Jesus Christ, put Him at the centre of their lives, and create a dependable youth-filled community. Your kind donations will go towards making this dream come true. When you choose to walk hand in hand with us, you will be making a lasting difference in the lives of generations to come.
